Calgary, AB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Calgary Flames made a surprise acquisition on Thursday, obtaining the services of forward Mike Cammalleri from the Montreal Canadiens. "Mike Cammalleri is a dynamic player who enjoyed great success playing in Calgary," stated Flames general manager Jay Feaster. "We believe Cammalleri will help our offensive production, solidify a second scoring line, bolster our power play, and bring another strong veteran voice to our room. We are confident that a return to Calgary will be good for Mike and good for our continued pursuit of a playoff berth."
Cammalleri, who enjoyed a career year in Calgary three seasons ago with 39 goals and 82 points in 81 games, struggled to nine goals and 22 points in 37 games this year. Coming into play on Thursday, Montreal placed last in the Northeast Division with 39 points.
According to several sources, Cammalleri was taken off the bench during the third period of a 2-1 loss to the Bruins in Boston and told to remain at the team hotel to await further instructions. Less than an hour later, the deal was announced.
"There are a lot of young players who have joined our team in the last year who are relatively small. We felt that if we wanted to improve the club, we needed to be bigger up front," said Habs general manager Pierre Gauthier. "We felt since the season started that was one of the things needed to improve."
Ramo, a 25-year-old native of Finland, has 48 games of NHL experience -- all with Tampa Bay from 2006-09. He posted an 11-21-10 record with a 3.35 goals- against average for the Bolts, but has spent the past three seasons with Avangard Omsk of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League.
Kari Lehtonen stopped 37-of-41 shots in Dallas' third win in four games.
Anze Kopitar and Jack Johnson each had a goal and two assists for the Kings. Lewis and Dustin Brown also lit the lamp, while Jonathan Quick made 34 saves in the loss.
Kopitar redirected a Johnson slap shot from the left point 6:16 into the second period to close the gap to 2-1, but Goligoski answered with a one-timer from the left circle just over a minute later to stretch the Stars' lead back to two goals.
Lewis converted on a breakaway by deking left before moving to the right and slipping the puck past the glove of Lehtonen near the midpoint of the second to make it a 3-2 game after two periods.
But Dallas knotted the game up at the 14:35 mark of the third after a double minor to the Kings' Mike Richards after Kopitar took a big hit in the corner and had to be helped off the ice.
Los Angeles killed off the first penalty but early in the second Eriksson threw a puck out front from the right side of the net that was knocked past Quick off the stick of Kings defenseman Willie Mitchell, forcing overtime.
Los Angeles fell to 11-0-1 this season when scoring at least three goals in a game...The teams had a combined total of 54 penalty minutes in the game...The Kings went 3-for-7 on the power play...Dallas was 1-for-5 with the man advantage...Kopitar did not return to the game with an upper body injury after the hit he took in the third.
Of course, the Pens won't have Crosby to help them halt the streak tonight, as he's been sidelined since early December with concussion symptoms. Crosby has played in just eight games -- all this season -- since first encountering his concussion issues last January. There has been no timetable set for Crosby's return since he last played on Dec. 5, but he did join the team on its current three-game road trip and Pittsburgh's captain is expected to begin light skating today.

Super Bowl XLIII isn't even a week old yet and oddsmakers have already released Super Bowl XLIV odds.
Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers winning Super Bowl 43, the New England Patriots are 8/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 44.
Bet Super Bowl XLIV Future Odds
With their 27-23 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII, the Steelers became the latest NFL champion. But believe it or not, oddsmakers from online sports book MySportsbook.com don't have the Steelers the favorites to win Super Bowl XLIV next season.
That honor belongs to the New England Patriots, who are 8/1 favorites to win despite not even qualify for the postseason in 2008. The Pats also have a major decision to make regarding what to do with Matt Cassel, who played well in Tom Brady's (knee surgery) absence last year but is also a free agent this offseason.
Ironically, the Steelers aren't even oddsmakers second choice to win Super Bowl 44, as the Dallas Cowboys are listed right behind the Patriots at 9/1 despite not making the playoffs themselves. Clearly oddsmakers think the public will hop back on the Cowboys' bandwagon considering the immense talent they have and the opening of a brand new stadium.
After Dallas, then comes Pittsburgh at 10/1, but they share those odds with the New York Giants, who won Super Bowl XLII. The Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers round out the top six teams at 12/1, while the Baltimore Ravens (14/1), Tennessee Titans (16/1), Carolina Panthers (18/1) and Philadelphia Eagles (18/1) complete the top 10.
The NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals got no love from oddsmakers as they were established as a 30/1 long shot to win next year's Super Bowl. They share those same odds with the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers two teams that didn't even qualify for the postseason. Other long shots are the Kansas City Chiefs (100/1), Detroit Lions (100/1), St. Louis Rams (75/1) and Oakland Raiders (75/1).
